Ancestral Healing and the River of Blood: Ancient Lore and a Healing Practice for Resolving Conflict on Both Sides of the Veil
Part 1

“We cannot curse the roots and bless the fruits.”

Much of the future of our species is contingent upon its relationship to its past. All of
us (human and other) partake of a great stream of life called the River of Blood. Yet,
sadly few of us have a living awareness of it and how to access, navigate and
mediate it for the good of the past, present and future. In this workshop, Orion will
discuss the nature of what he calls “life’s undercurrent” and its influence on the quality
and potentials of our current lives. This current is both a source of great nourishment,
wisdom, power and support but also the origins of many subtle and overt paradoxes,
and problems in our lives. We are the inheritors and sometimes the perpetrators of
these qualities. To heal ourselves and our world, we must heal what ancient
ancestors knew as the River of Blood. So much of the past lives within us as the present and this can be very unhealthy when done without healing and discernment practices. After all, the past is for reflection and not residence. So, how do we heal those who have passed into the internal tide of life? How do we carry forth the best of their life within us while

releasing, redeeming or healing the worst? After all the traumas of the past, and the associated effects and aftermath do not simply go away. No, they recede into the underbelly of the expressed world where feed and/or erode at vitality of current life. Conversely, there is a saying, “no wisdom leaves the world and love is eternal”, which means that these traits are also passed down to us or they can be accessed and brought forward.

This workshop is about healing those qualities of the ancestral stream (“the River of Blood”) that entangles and entrenches us in forms of sorrow.These patterns reveal the pain of those who went before us and its presence in our current lives. Why carry these when you have choice?.

    Witchblood and the Original Ancestors: The Meaning, Magic and Mystery of the “Uncanny Knowing”.
    Part 2

    Through the centuries and across many cultures, there are stories, lore and legends about certain types of humans that are born with extraordinary gifts for healing, cursing, wortcunning, clairvoyance, shape-shifting , weather-working and the list goes on. The propensity for this “otherness” is said to run in what in many traditions is called “the witch-blood. The concept of the Witch-Blood is one of the core teachings in older forms of traditional Craft. Within these teachings is a belief that witches, their propensity of “otherness”, and seemingly supernatural gifts are a genetic trait. The origins are said to be from an ancient time when some humans mated with spirits/ otherworldly beings such as angels and Faeries. Further, this trait awakens from its dormancy in predictable ways when necessity, opportunity, and resources align or when nature (Mother Fate) summons them. Witches are a significant key to natural order. Thus, the old saying, “when the world needs witches; witches arrive”! This workshop extends the mysteries of ancestry and the river of blood into the heritage of the witch as being offspring of the human ancestral stream and something else, older than our species and our planet. The lore suggests that its origins are stellar. One thing we know, this blood is awakening at an unprecedented level across the world. In this workshop, Orion will share teachings on the following:

  • ●  The origins and implications of the Witch-Blood;
  • ●  An Inquisitor’s dilemma “the uncanny knowing”
  • ●  The faery race as the “original Ancestors”
  • ●  The summoning of the witch
  • ●  The mystical awakening process or, “I touch you and your blood remembers”
  • ●  Recognizing and managing the “witches madness”;
  • ●  Caveats & advises on managing its power as the cauldron seethes.;
  • ●  An understanding of what has awakened the witch-blood at such a high level now;
  • ●  How to hear and heed its guidance from within with a core focus on “being powerful inpowerless times”;
  • ●  Maintaining clarity by avoiding entanglements, entrenchments and contamination ofinner sight;
  • ●  Post-Inquisitional trauma
  • ●  The “witch-flame” and the “witch-knowing”.

Class fee: $33 per night, $53 if you pay for both nights. $3 discount if paid in cash.

Seeking the Center: Contacting, Mediating and Embodying Your Inner Power with Orion Foxwood

Seeking the Center: Contacting, Mediating and Embodying Your Inner Power

“Seek Ye the Eye of the Storm and
find Wisdom in its Stillness”
Living in the physical world, while seeking spiritual wisdom can be a great challenge in this highly externalized human world. Even the Bible warns “what profit a man to gain the world but lose his soul”. There is an inspiration in your essence that was so powerful that ts pulsed you from the invisible to the incarnate state; and true happiness and personal power is in its discovery. This essential core is peaceful, connected, powerful and wise and it is “the pearl of great price”. This mythical “center” is spoken of in many traditions and practices but vaguely of in passing.Yet, this center is a spark of the original star that ignited all existence and as such must be the sun around which our personal planetary life revolves. It is also our foundation and anchoring place that keeps us from drifting when the winds of change are upon us. In this workshop, Orion will discuss the concept of the center, what it is, how to align into it, how we loose awareness of it, how to clean and feed it; and, how to sense its vibrance and witness its effects in the physical world. He will discuss the primary distractions and how to develop a lifestyle that maintains alignment with both our personal center and the “centrum universa”.  He will also teach techniques called “praying to the center” and “cosmating from the core”. Other teachings covered include:
  • The Dweller on the Threshold
  • The Dark Night of the Soul
  • The Calling of Completion
  • The roles of prayer, meditation, mind-fullness and Magic
  • Core Drives and distracting fears
  • The Deeper Meaning of Love, Forgiveness and Blessing
Never forget that You are the Source Centered in Substance.
Class fee $33, discounted to $30 if paid in cash.

Collect Eyes, Converse with Memory

+Flip through the photo gallery. The captions tell a story.

Spiritwork Lesson + Collect Eyes, Converse with Memory

Memories are not carved in stone. Physically, memories are held in living, breathing cells. Consider a memory, not as access to a static moment in time, but as access to our perspective on that moment. Our perspective evolves over time. To “remember,” then, if we are evolving, is to see the same moment through different eyes.

As a Spiritworker, linear evolution doesn’t interest me much. I’m not passing through the days of my life like a bead traveling along a thread. I am devouring the days of my life; I am a dragon hoarding my days as treasure. I want to be the sum of my days and no less.

As such, I seek to be increasingly free to choose the form and nature of my perspective. If and when I wish, I want to be able to see with the eyes of a child, the eyes of magic, the eyes of experience, the eyes of science, the eyes of a hummingbird, the eyes of a potato. I collect eyes. I color-code them and keep them in a pouch like a bag of marbles. (A Spiritworker must take care not to lose their marbles.)

When we embrace our many eyes, our perspective becomes flexible like a dancer. Our perspective becomes an Artform in itself. What is Art, can be Craft. (Craft, etymologically from Old Norse meaning strength and virtue, later taking the meaning of power or skill. In the case of the Witch’s Craft all four are applicable: strength, virtue, power, and skill.)

And don’t we want to Craft? Afterall, an evolved perspective is not worth terribly much on its own. Its value emerges when it is used to create. A god isn’t a god for being powerful. God is God because she did something with that power.

+

Besides collecting eyes, I wish to share with you another method for cultivating the freedom of perspective needed for Craft: Instead of treating your memory as a library, treat Memory as a Librarian. Work with Memory as you would any other spirit. Converse with Memory.

Engage her and she will show you how to transform your dusty records into a long hall with many doors and many dreams. Let her guide you to a memory of your choosing. Let her guide you to a memory of her choosing. Let her reveal to you her ability to lead you to things forgotten or hidden.

Enter a memory and play. Run the tape fast and slow. Rearrange the scenes. Rename the actors. Write new lines. Add music. Scramble your eggs a bit. Take old pictures and tell a wholly new story. Play with a memory that you consider important. Play with a memory that, at the time, was absolutely trivial. One picture should offer at least a thousand words, yes?

[There’s a photo gallery attached to this post with a series of sunsets.]

Here’s the story for these photos:

+I stand on a cold beach with my camera. There are crowds of people all gawking at the sky. I’m a bit winded from running; we left the house a little late and were worried about missing the sunset. I try to switch camera lenses without getting sand in the works. My deep thoughts: That sunset. Wow. Fuck.

Today I re-entered the door and found a new story:

+I will never forget the image of her in turquoise silk.
+“My blue; it’s because of you,” said Sky. “I don’t think that’s true,” said the Sea, blushing.
+It’s getting dark but stay. Twilight is longer in the water.
+He flashed a smile through tears.

Both of these stories happened, but in that moment, I was only conscious of the first. I returned to this moment with Memory as Muse and encountered a new version, a new vision of these events. I encountered a love story.

It is not overwriting fact with fiction, or reality with illusion and fantasy. Adding a new perspective, a new insight, a new vision does not erase or devalue the perspective we had at the time. There is no rule that states a single experience must have a single perspective and meaning.

It is not donning rose-colored glasses to avoid the ache of a cold memory. It is valuing Memory as a gift, instead of treating it like something we must escape or shed if we wish to be happy. We don’t need to erase memories or fix them. We don’t need to avoid memory by staying constantly, vigilantly “present” and “positive.”

I believe, we hunger not for a life without suffering, but for a life with meaning. We long to have purpose. I believe part of that purpose is the creation of meaning. Craft and Spiritwork aren’t just finding meaning on dark trails few dare to seek, it is also creating meaning in broad daylight where none previously existed. Is it just a pretty sunset, or might it also be an expression of the great love shared by Sky and Sea? Depends on which eyes you use to look upon it. Thus, if you wish to be a creator of meaning in this world, I have two simple recommendations: Collect Eyes. Converse with Memory.

Traditional Spiritwork begins with conversations. The stars are singing. The memories in your blood are whispering. Can you hear them? The spiritworker learns the language of the dead, of trees, of the heart. Through these diverse relationships our worldview evolves and our understanding deepens, just like the expansion we experience if we have the opportunity to visit another country or learn a foreign language.

Sometimes the conversations lead us to other sacred arts: like the rituals, shrine-keeping, prayers, visionary work, and folk-practices of our ancestors. To me, Traditional doesn’t mean going through the same motions as those who came before. Our animist ancestors didn’t have the internet to look up which color candle to use. They found their own Way. They worked with what they had, they talked with what they found, they saw spirit in everything. The Tradition is heretical, it is the way of finding your own way.

I love how many folks have changed their question from, “Ren, can you tell me what my spirit guides are saying?” to “Ren, how do I learn to hear my spirit guides?” Love. But Spirit-Listening is a half-step. Traditional Spiritwork is not simply knowledge of guides, it’s self-knowledge. We, who are also spirits, who are capable not only of perceiving, but of communicating and creating with our invisible friends. As the quote says, the only way to have a friend is to be one.

Many modern seekers that I meet are conflicted. They reach for stronger spiritual contact from their guides, but may become overwhelmed as their sensitivity increases — we can become caught simultaneously drawing in and pushing away spiritual experience. We become caught wanting to see through those animist eyes, while fearing the madness that might come if we really start seeing faces and hearing voices in everything. We become blocked not by inability to perceive spirit, but by our fear that spirit isn’t “real”, such that what we perceive is never good enough. The vision is never strong enough to eradicate our fear. The comfort of confirmation never lasts.

In this class, we will learn that stronger contact is not clearer contact. We will learn a healthier way of relating to our fears. We will develop dexterity in our spiritual senses and yes, meet some of our nearest and dearest friends. We’ll start the journey of learning the language of soul, of spirit, of ancestors, of plants, animals, minerals, of threshold beings like faery, like Death, of Bright Gods and Titans, of innerworlds and otherworlds.

Spiritwork is the serpent constantly hatching from an ever-larger egg. Spiritwork is a tool that can work within any system, religion, belief or box that you enjoy, so long as that box isn’t brittle — in which case, fair warning, spiritwork may crack a few of your favorite eggs.

+What is Traditional Spiritwork?

Traditional Spiritwork begins with conversations.  The stars are singing.  The memories in your blood are whispering.  Can you hear them?  The spiritworker learns the language of the dead, of trees, of the heart.  Through these diverse relationships our worldview evolves and our understanding deepens, just like the expansion we experience if we have the opportunity to visit another country or learn a foreign language.

Sometimes the conversations lead us to other sacred arts: like the rituals, shrine-keeping, prayers, visionary work, and folk-practices of our ancestors.  We will discuss these arts, but to me, Traditional doesn’t mean going through the same motions as those who came before.  Our animist ancestors didn’t look up which color candle to use on the internet.  They found their own Way.  They worked with what they had, they talked with what they found, they saw spirit in everything.  The Tradition is heretical, it is the way of finding your own way.

+Why practice Traditional Spiritwork?

There was a time when people mostly asked me: “Ren, can you tell me what my spirit guides are saying? Can you see them?”  Now, it seems every week I hear: “Ren, how do I learn to hear my spirit guides?  How can I see them more clearly?”

Any shift towards personal responsibility and adventure is great!  But remember that spiritual Sight is the vehicle for your travel, not the journey itself.  Traditional Spiritwork is not just about perceiving spirits, it’s about communicating, collaborating, and creating a meaningful life with them.  If it isn’t meaningful, the spirits, too, might get bored and wonder: “Why Humanwork?”

The only way to have a friend is to be one. +Ralph w. Emerson

Practice Traditional Spiritwork to cultivate a life of Freedom and Family.  Imagine a kind of love that pushes you forward instead of holding you back.  Spiritwork is the serpent constantly hatching from ever-larger eggs.  Spiritwork is a tool that can work within any system, religion, belief, or box that you enjoy, even atheism, so long as that box isn’t brittle — in which case, fair warning, spiritwork may crack a few of your favorite eggs.

+Traditionally, isn’t Spiritwork learned from the Spirits out alone in the forest or something? Why take a class?

Yes, spiritwork is learned from the spirits and it is as individual as a fingerprint.  (I’m a spirit though, and so are you!)  However, the states of being which allow spiritwork to take root are not easy for everyone to access.  Animism and the animist world-view is no longer the dominant paradigm in our society.

We become caught wanting to see through those animist eyes, while fearing the madness that might come if we really start seeing faces and hearing voices in everything.  We become blocked, not by inability to perceive spirit, but by our fear that spirit isn’t “real”, such that what we perceive is never good enough.  The vision is never strong enough to eradicate our fear.  The comfort of confirmation never lasts.

In this class, we will learn that Comfort is not the goal of Spiritwork.  Neither is suffering.  We will learn that stronger contact is not clearer contact.  We will learn a healthier way of relating to our fears.  We will develop dexterity in our spiritual senses.  We will embrace Growth and Adventure, and yes, meet some of our nearest and dearest friends: Souls, Spirits, Ancestors, Plants, Animals, Minerals, Faery, Gods, Titans, Innerworlds, Otherworlds, and more.
