Tarot Forecast August 2, 2016 – by Hovik

The cards definitely shifted from the wheel turning. We approached the first harvest at Lammas and the cards clearly show that. As this reading is a general forecast on what is going on in the air, it’s amazing to be able to see the cards and how they change each week and especially at the turn of the season. I will get into the message of the cards now and then we will discuss them separately. There is a sense of struggle internally between doing what is comfortable and trying something new. The old king has fallen and it is the season of the great Queen Mother. There is doubt if this new venture will be too much for you to handle. Be grounded and seek wisdom and remember to be practical. The answer may not appear simple, but take a breath and listen to the signs.

The question of whether or not your efforts will be rewarded is yes. The Queen will be taking you under her wing and guide you through to shape a prosperous future. She is a stern mother, but also full of love, which is why she guides you in uncertainty. The first card in the spread is the page of wands; the dreamer and fiddler of his or her own tune. The creative spark in you is fresh and wants to be expressed, but you may lack a bit of footing on getting it off the ground right now. Hence why the presence of the mother comes in later, she wants to help realize your goals and make them reality. The next card is the knight of cups, the heart chaser. He rides his horse towards the desires of his heart. Emotions can sometimes be a little rocky if you try to approach it head on, but this card says you do have the skills to make it happen. After that is the chariot which is about balancing and pulling things together. It is also about movement and change by your own hand wielding the forces around you. So for me, it ties very nicely with the knight of cups and the watery scene of the chariot in my deck.

So far we have the first stirrings of chasing a dream with the page of wands, emotions and heading into new waters with the knight of cups and finally, the chariot showing us the need to yield the reins and pull the forces around us to make stuff happen. The next three cards are all about the great mother and what she brings to the table now. She appears at the forefront leading us with the queen of pentacles. The lady of abundance and grounded force. She is strong and focused on making things happen. As a true lady of the castle, she handles the money and brings it to balance. She can help guide your hand to make practical change as opposed to just dancing around in the clouds. Some folks have a hard time mediating the emotional dreamer and passion with the practical grounded force to get things done. The chariot shows this internal struggle and shows you that you need to make a sacrifice to stop working them separately, but rather joining it together to bring it into being. The queen can definitely help you with that. The card after the queen is the seven of pentacles. I love the image in my deck of the woman standing under a fruit tree holding a basket with her pickings. She reaches up and has her hand on another to be picked. A tiny dragon catches above sitting on one of the fruits as she does this. All about harvest and seeing the fruits of your labor. It is the physical manifestation of the work you put in. Surrender the forces and watch as the trees explode with fruit. Again, we have the idea of sacrifice again, sacrifice of time and energy and the earth doing its thing to tend what you gave up and work it to then create something new.

The next card is the eight of pentacles; the spider who weaves the web. She is there to apprentice and work for her efforts. This is the card that to me says, allow the great mother to take you under her wing. Be her apprentice now as you were for the king earlier and she shall show you the bounty of earth. The final card in the spread is the page of pentacles. More promise of this week being fruitful, as you moved from the beginning of the week from page of wands to page of pentacles. A silly, yet slightly appropriate image of the little boy and his lemonade stand comes into my head. Starting small, and learning the ways of what your mamma taught you. She watches from the window as her child takes the fruits and makes delicious refreshment for all to enjoy. Rather fitting for the hot summer days here in sunny Los Angeles.
