The Well of Song is an improvisational song circle facilitated by internationally touring musician Sharon Knight. Envisioned as a place from whence all music flows, we will dip into the Well and sing what comes. Sharon will start the process by assigning 4 improvised parts to the group, and we will ebb and flow in and out of 4 part harmony. Workshop begins with a brief talk, warm up and trance journey, and then we sing together for the remainder of the time. Participants will have the opportunity to follow their own inspirational threads as well. Themes draw on imagery and emotion from the natural world. Very invigorating and ecstatic!
Bio:
Sharon Knight and her longtime collaborator Winter are internationally touring musicians in the mythic-Celtic vein. Festival favorites, they have played main stages at several mythic and pagan festivals across the United States and Europe. Their penchant for combining fierce and gutsy bravado with ethereal beauty, a hearty dose of fantastical lyrics, and an obvious love of storytelling has inspired their own style, “Neofolk Romantique”. This often sounds less Celtic and more “Folktales that ran away with the Faeries at the turn of the century and took cover in an old trunk bound for the circus, which was then commandeered by pirates.” This suits them fine.
