Why should the modern witch study Kabbalah? Excellent question! Kabbalah is, after all, the mysticism that underpins the oldest of the Abrahamic Traditions. So for a pagan witch this would be superfluous wouldn’t it? Well actually not. Kabbalah is one of the earliest fully-formed mystical paths that we have in the West. It is filled with precursors of many if not most of the ideas that have formed the basis for both ancient and contemporary magical practice. For instance: the importance of names, the power of breath, the correspondence and use of letters and numbers to identify deeper truth, the relationship of angels and devils to humanity, the existence and reasons for our having soul mates, the nature and meaning of reincarnation, and the pathway of the soul in the afterlife – to name just some of the concepts. However, no concept is more universal and more important than the Tree of Life. This easy to remember glyph has more power or applicability than perhaps any occult figure other than the hexagon or pentagon. And arguably, both of those can be placed upon the tree to make sense of their occult meanings. So it is clear a modern witch should only study the Kabbalistic Tree of Life if they want to work more effective and powerful magic, or understand why magic works, or have a basis to decide what magical actions to take. Join us for this 4 week class which will continue moving up the Tree of Life. We will begin with the two divine elements and climb into the ethical/triad. On the way we will part the veil of the holy of holies and explore why this process was considered to be the central act of moving from the world of the initiate to the place of the adept. If you missed the first 4 weeks – though this class will build upon the information we covered – it is still possible to climb into the Tree of Life with us and get a great deal out of this series. This is part of a 3 class sequence which will cover the mystical theory and magical uses of the Tree of Life. Each class will consist of both a theoretical background and a practical application in working with the Tree as part of your contemporary magical practice.
