Lughnasadh with Reclaiming LA

Lughnasadh—also called Lammas or Loaf-mas—is the festival of the first bread, and with it, a celebration of the god Lugh. Lugh is the god of the lightning strike, the master of many tools, and a quick-tongued warrior who uses truth as one of His weapons. Lugh is the unlikely leader who knows the ins and outs of resisting an empire, and in this season, we follow His lead, celebrating not only the gifts of the earth that sustain us, but also the sacrifices and acts of resistance that allow us to thrive.

Reclaiming LA is committed to economic justice, and we recognize that this fee may pose a financial hardship for some of our community members. If you plan to attend the ritual and you are unable to pay the entry fee, we welcome you to email info@reclaimingla.org, and we will add you to a list of those who will receive free entry to the ritual space. ACCESSIBILITY
The ritual space is on mostly even concrete in the open-air backyard of the store. Access to the ritual space is level and wide enough for wheelchair access. Typically, accessing the ritual space requires going through the store, which does have strong scents, and accommodations can be made in advance to come in through alleyway. The ritual space will have some light after dark, but it is minimal. Chairs are available for those needing to sit for part of or all of the ritual, and the ritual is structured to allow for participation also while seated.
Acoustics in the yard can be difficult with aircraft flying overhead; however, there are no constant loud noises, and the ritual is conducted with awareness of the ambient noise level to help with hearing. Very rarely, due to inclement weather (either heavy rain or wildfire smoke), the ritual is moved to an indoor space which is up a flight of stairs with no wheelchair access. Should we need to move to the upstairs, we will do our best to announce this change on our social media well in advance of the ritual start time.
We have written this accessibility statement to be as inclusive as possible so that people with accessibility concerns do not have to do the labor of asking. If we have overlooked some aspect, please email us at info@reclaimingla.org.
