Shamanic practitioners cultivate various skills and knowledge which allow them to maintain their role as stewards of the land, but also to maintain their connection and service to their communities. Shamanic practitioners are often sought out for their services, whether it is for spiritual guidance, to conduct ceremonies and rites of passage, to communicate with spirits of nature and the ancestors to assist in divining information, or healing the mind, body and soul.
In this class course we will explore a more hands-on, workshop approach with shamanism. A shamanic practice, after all, must be practiced. So, expect to attend, and participate, as we learn practical techniques and applications to all the discussed concepts and topics of previous classes. Here, we will explore topics like divination, energy work and conducting ceremony.
This will be a 6-Week Class Course, wherein each class will meet, in-person, every Wednesday night from 7:30pm–10pm, between July 1st to August 12th.
This class course is Part 3 in the class series “An Introduction to Shamanism.”
- This course is an extension to Part 1: “Shamanism & Spirit Work,” and Part 2: “Shamanism & Personal Healing.”
- While it is suggested to have taken classes in the previous courses, or at least have a basic understanding of shamanic perspectives and practices, it is not necessary.
Throughout the series, each class will delve into a foundational topic within the study of Shamanism.
- As a reminder, every single class within the series can stand alone as an individual workshop, so it is not a requirement to attend all of the classes consecutively. And, while the option of “dropping in” at any point in the series is open, to fully and cohesively benefit from the lessons and practices taught, it is highly encouraged to attend all of the classes, either in each class course or in the whole series.
An Introduction to Shamanism – Course Itinerary
Part 3: “Practical Shamanism” – July 1 to August 12, 2026
Explore a hands-on, workshop approach with shamanism, as we learn various techniques and applications around shamanic praxis.
Class Topics:
7/8: Class 1 – The Shaman’s Altar
Learn how to create and maintain a working altar, as we explore and work with the various tools and supplies appropriate and necessary within a shamanic practice.
7/15: Class 2 – Spirit Work/ Energy Work
In this workshop, we will explore various shamanic techniques which support and deepen our connection to spirit and our “senses” through energy work and awareness.
7/22: Class 3 – Shamanic Healing
In answering the Shamanic Call to Service, the praxis of Medicine Work is foundational. In this workshop we will explore the ethics and perspectives of Shamanic Healing, alongside learning simple and practical techniques as we connect with spirits toward healing work.
7/29: Class 4 – Shamanic Divination
Communing with spirits and the divine can greatly support and inform the work we proceed to do in our practices. Learn how to scry and cast bones, as we learn to interpret messages from spirit in this workshop.
8/5: Class 5 – Shamanic Magic
The belief and practice of magic is very present within many indigenous and folk traditions. We will explore the various ways in which magic is perceived and practiced, and maybe do a little magic of our own.
8/12 : Class 6 – Shamanic Ceremony
Join us for an Ayni Ceremony as we conclude this final installment of the “Introduction to Shamanism Series.” We will also discuss topics like rites of passage and ritual logistics as you learn how to create and center your own Shamanic Ceremonies.
