Too many have either no idea or a completely fantasy based understanding of how to approach this material from a modern day perspective\, let alone unlock the powerful Initiate tools and power within this ancient legacy. \nA closely related subject\, shape-shifting\, is as equally misunderstood as to how to achieve\, why it’s important or even what it is! How to approach workings and applications of this practice within the context of Traditional Witchcraft is something every Witch should embrace and wrestle with. Though ignored by many\, it is indeed a basic and essential practice in working Magic in Traditional Witchcraft. \nThis workshop will present a basic understanding and orientation into the material within the context of the old world as well as present ways to translate these old practices into practical uses for the witch within todays world. Presenting the practice and material in a practical straight forward manner\, so you can easily incorporate some forms of this practice in your magic and craft going forward. \nThis workshop will be partly hands on\, ending in a working of Witchcraft\, Mayhem and Mischief! DESCRIPTION:This month I am doing something I do not often do\, but perhaps should. A well overdue visitation to one of my dear and beloved Ancient Goddesses\, Sekmet! For some a first encounter\, to better know this powerful and amazing Titan Goddess. She is a Goddess of the Craft who all too often dwells in the shadows of other\, more familiar\, Goddesses. But this year we need to bring her from the shadows and stand proud by her side in the clear and cleansing light! \n  \nThe recent Tides of Fate seems to have been running some folks ragged. There is a sense of weariness hanging over us that just doesn’t fit with this time of year. A general wave of miscommunications\, irritation\, and weirdness fills the air\, like we’re caught in an extended period of Mercury retrograde. Even if things are getting resolved for you\, the tide has many around us caught up in big drama of one sort or another. \n  \nThe spirit quality of our world right now seems to want to further a sense of discord. Well\, it is an election year and the antics of division and drama seem to have become standard fare in the media. And as the year moves on I suspect this will only get worse! But we of the Craft of the Wise\, how can we best weather this Tide? \n  \nAs we approach the Solstice we come to that time of year where we may be challenged to find our truth and stand firm. It’s a test of Virtue\, Truth and Strength of Character. It’s a time to try a draw a line in the sand\, even with loved ones\, who also need to respect us and give us some consideration! \n  \nBut what are the tools we need to discern how best to move forward with confidence\, owning our power? Those are the tools that come together with our beloved Sekhmet. She is a Goddess of Power and Action\, a Warrior Goddess whom nothing can stand against. But she also wears the Solar Disk and Wadjet Eye\, bringing the clarity and vision of oracles. SUMMARY:Saturnalia Rite & Topsy Turvy Feast of Misrule
DESCRIPTION:Join us in an absurd celebration! Fair is foul and foul is fair! \nBoxing Day\, the 26th of December\, is a carry-over from what was known as the Saturnalia.  The Saturnalia\, of course sacred to Saturn\, was celebrated as an inversion or reversal of what was the norm.  Masters served the servants\, clothes were worn inside out/back to front\, and all kinds of misrule ran amok.  In today’s Trad Craft this practice is still maintained in some traditions\, sometimes under the guise of the Lord of Misrule and a period of Misrule.  In our Tradition\, we observe this time of Misrule as Dark Time; the Misrule element being worked more around the Yule period\, which is appropriate to the Saturnalia. \nThe liberty from the chains of social convention and the clear sight and understanding or “insight” one may get by freeing oneself from the chains of the societal norm is where the practice brings its true Saturnalian Yule Gift.  With this liberty\, one may find a new horizon and shift the path of one’s life or some practice\, element\, or habit one would like to be rid of.  This is done by exposing it in a blunt and honest manner\, and using misrule and humor to gain another perspective\, thus disarming the monster and bringing about change.  Perhaps this is the source of the New Year’s Resolution we still hold as a Yule/New Year’s practice. \nSo in honor of the spirit of this season\, we will hold a Saturnalian Feast on Saturday the 27th\, where we turn the societal norm on its head.  As humor and especially absurdity and mockery are traditionally associated with this Saturnalian Misrule\, this should be the spirit of the Feast.  To invert and turn the norm on its head\, this will be a Topsy Turvy Feast where men come dressed as women and women as men\, only with the mockery and humor overtone.  There will be prizes! \nThe feast is of course a potluck and feel free to bring-a-bottle.\n\nThis event is a gift from The Green Man\, no donation requested\, please come share this rite with us!
