What it lent me was a truly coherent grasp on the workings as a whole within the whole season! The Mysteries and how they were still so pertinent was never made so clear as with these insightful classes. They ended up probably being my favorite classes of the year\, next to the Witch Blood Series! \n  \nSo with this upcoming Series\, how it’s evolved is this… I will be doing an over view orientation of the Year perspective on the first class. Then the following eight classes will be broken into four segments where we will spend two weeks on each Season. In addition to the Seasonal Material\, including Solar and Draconian Land Lore\, we will incorporate the Luna Tidal influences\, which is how we reign and ride the Draconian Powers to specific goals within our Witchcraft Rituals and Workings. \n  \nBasically we will be working the Draconian powers of the seasons in conjunction with the Luna forces to explore and lay out clear practical applications to workings. This will help better grasp how to translate the lore\, mythic legacy and forces of both the Sun and Moon\, working upon the Dragon Forces of the Earth\, into clear applicable and practical workings! \n  \nMaybe you can see why I am excited about this one! So with two weeks to each season and covering the various moon phases\, we have more than enough work to chew on. This time of year is when we more often get the chance to spend some time by the Sea or even in it! So it’s a good time to shift our mundane awareness to that of a more spiritual nature and forge a deeper familiarity with one of the truly awesome Gods of Old! \n  \nThere are many Gods and Goddesses associated with the Sea or Ocean\, and though they each have their particular lore\, attributes and associations\, they all have a same primal deep feel that if you surrender to it\, will completely wash through you and consume you in a tangible sense of otherness. Nothing shifts you quite like the Sea and even spending a day on a beach next to it\, shifts you\, if you are open to that! \n  \nThe Ced Cards designated for the day\, for them that follow that\, is the Five of Staves\, a cardinal Sun card that depicts Gladiators fighting to the death for the sake of amusement\, decadence and nothing better to do! The Major Arcana in play is the Moon\, who brings change and transition or the illusion of such. The Moon is a trickster who can raise the hormones in the blood and bring about some real change if worked right. But in the end\, the damn Faeries won out! Have they been busy of late or what? I talked to our resident Faerie Mistress\, Elysia\, and she agrees\, they have been most active and she wonders if the court will even close down its doors after Mid Summers this year! \nSo if you are feeling the presence of the other folks in your lives somehow? This is a great opportunity for those first-timers who want to experience the Lupercalia and all the gifts that the festival brings\, without having to jump into the deep end\, so to speak. \nThe Lupercalia is a notorious Roman Festival\, usually celebrated on Feb 14th\, which today we celebrate as Valentines Day\, a day of Love and Romance. Back in ye olden Roman Days\, this was festival of cleansing\, purging and then fertility\, the idea being that to make fertile and affluent the coming year\, one should first clear the field\, prior to seeding the field. \nThe cleansing and purging aspect of this Festival had its roots in an older Greek Festival called the Lykaia. This was a Ritual that focused on the purging of complications; issues and trappings\, often associated with those socialized societal aspects of our humanity\, which binds our primal power and nature within. During this Rite of the Lykaia\, Human Sacrifice was practiced as a form of the Hieros Gamos\, ritually sacrificing the Flesh of Humanity to the Gods or Spirit of the Divine. Participants would lose themselves in their primal nature\, sacrificing their humanity to the liberated spirit of their animalistic forces within. This early form of shape-shifting\, classically associated with the Werewolf and the Lunacy of the Full Moon\, became a central aspect of these rites. Over time Pan also becomes associated with this Festival\, as the primal forces of the Werewolf and the liberation of the animalistic identity allowed for the subsequent revelry of a primal Bacchanal to fertility and nature! \nFrom this Greek root came the Roman Lupercalia\, where the two main God Figures were celebrated as Lupa\, the She Wolf Mother of the founders of Rome\, and Lupercus\, the Roman Pan. This combination brought together the purging of weakness and the foibles of our humanity with the freed spirit of our powerful primal nature\, in a bacchanalian fertility festival of life!
