SUMMARY:Saturnalia Rite & Topsy Turvy Feast of Misrule
DESCRIPTION:Join us in an absurd celebration! Fair is foul and foul is fair!  As humor and especially absurdity and mockery are traditionally associated with this Saturnalian Misrule\, this should be the spirit of the Feast. To invert and turn the norm on its head\, this will be a Topsy Turvy Feast where men come dressed as women and women as men\, only with the mockery and humor overtone.\n The feast is of course a potluck and feel free to bring-a-bottle. \n The Saturnalia\, a seasonal celebration of this time of year for old Rome\, was of course sacred to Saturn and celebrated as an inversion or reversal of what was the norm. It was a festival of Misrule where Masters served the servants\, clothes were worn inside out/back to front\, and all kinds of misrule ran amok.   In today’s Trad Craft this practice is still maintained in some traditions\, sometimes under the guise of the Lord of Misrule and a period of Misrule. In our Tradition\, we observe this time of Misrule as Dark Time; the Misrule element being worked more around the Yule period\, which is appropriate to the Saturnalia.  A Celebration of Misrule for the Father of Boundaries and order may seem strange. But the idea is to celebrate the spirit of Misrule within a ritual celebration format in order to satiate that spirit so it has no desire or need to reach into our mundane life\, world or society\, and thereby leave Saturn empowered!   This Misrule celebration also supports the liberty of our bound spirits of creativity. And freeing ourselves from the chains of social convention\, the clear sight and understanding or “insight” one may get by freeing oneself from the chains of the societal norm\, is where the practice brings to us its true Saturnalian Yule Gift.   With this liberty\, one may find a new horizon and shift the path of one’s life or some practice\, element\, or habit one would like to be rid of. This is done by exposing it in a blunt and honest manner\, and using misrule and humor to gain another perspective\, thus disarming the monster and bringing about change. Perhaps this is the source of the New Year’s Resolution we still hold as a Yule/New Year’s practice. I am really excited about this Series\, which I have not done before. \n  \nBasically for those who know my classes\, this is a combination of the Four Seasons classes I did a year back. Then I did one class each season to explore the underlying themes and mythos that permeated through a Season. We explored its many expressions and evolution through the Season\, the specific festivals and practices which helped further illuminate the Legacy being presented. Most of all\, we focused in particular on the Witches Legacy of Mysteries that laid in the roots of this material and how as Witchcraft practitioners today\, we could access and apply this material to our own path and evolution. \n  \nI have to admit I was not really aware of how deep this legacy went or how coherent it is\, until I did those Four Seasons classes. What it lent me was a truly coherent grasp on the workings as a whole within the whole season! The Mysteries and how they were still so pertinent was never made so clear as with these insightful classes. They ended up probably being my favorite classes of the year\, next to the Witch Blood Series! \n  \nSo with this upcoming Series\, how it’s evolved is this… I will be doing an over view orientation of the Year perspective on the first class. Then the following eight classes will be broken into four segments where we will spend two weeks on each Season. In addition to the Seasonal Material\, including Solar and Draconian Land Lore\, we will incorporate the Luna Tidal influences\, which is how we reign and ride the Draconian Powers to specific goals within our Witchcraft Rituals and Workings. \n  \nBasically we will be working the Draconian powers of the seasons in conjunction with the Luna forces to explore and lay out clear practical applications to workings. This will help better grasp how to translate the lore\, mythic legacy and forces of both the Sun and Moon\, working upon the Dragon Forces of the Earth\, into clear applicable and practical workings! \n  \nMaybe you can see why I am excited about this one! So with two weeks to each season and covering the various moon phases\, we have more than enough work to chew on. I am hoping to take the work onto the floor every other week\, as a way to practically represent various kinds of working approaches. \n  \nLimited Space Warning! The recent Series I have been doing have sold out and many who left it to the last week were not able to make the class. Many of our practices in life relate to a larger picture of eternity that includes the other realms and underworld\, aka the Mound. \nThis class promises to address the subject from many contexts and to bring what we consider a vital part of the Witch Lore that every “Craft” practitioner should be in possession of! What it lent me was a truly coherent grasp on the workings as a whole within the whole season! The Mysteries and how they were still so pertinent was never made so clear as with these insightful classes. They ended up probably being my favorite classes of the year\, next to the Witch Blood Series! \n  \nSo with this upcoming Series\, how it’s evolved is this… I will be doing an over view orientation of the Year perspective on the first class. Then the following eight classes will be broken into four segments where we will spend two weeks on each Season. In addition to the Seasonal Material\, including Solar and Draconian Land Lore\, we will incorporate the Luna Tidal influences\, which is how we reign and ride the Draconian Powers to specific goals within our Witchcraft Rituals and Workings. \n  \nBasically we will be working the Draconian powers of the seasons in conjunction with the Luna forces to explore and lay out clear practical applications to workings. This will help better grasp how to translate the lore\, mythic legacy and forces of both the Sun and Moon\, working upon the Dragon Forces of the Earth\, into clear applicable and practical workings! \n  \nMaybe you can see why I am excited about this one! So with two weeks to each season and covering the various moon phases\, we have more than enough work to chew on. Most of all\, we focused in particular on the Witches Legacy of Mysteries that laid in the roots of this material and how as Witchcraft practitioners today\, we could access and apply this material to our own path and evolution. \n  \nI have to admit I was not really aware of how deep this legacy went or how coherent it is\, until I did those Four Seasons classes. What it lent me was a truly coherent grasp on the workings as a whole within the whole season! The Mysteries and how they were still so pertinent was never made so clear as with these insightful classes. They ended up probably being my favorite classes of the year\, next to the Witch Blood Series! \n  \nSo with this upcoming Series\, how it’s evolved is this… I will be doing an over view orientation of the Year perspective on the first class. Then the following eight classes will be broken into four segments where we will spend two weeks on each Season. In addition to the Seasonal Material\, including Solar and Draconian Land Lore\, we will incorporate the Luna Tidal influences\, which is how we reign and ride the Draconian Powers to specific goals within our Witchcraft Rituals and Workings. \n  \nBasically we will be working the Draconian powers of the seasons in conjunction with the Luna forces to explore and lay out clear practical applications to workings. This will help better grasp how to translate the lore\, mythic legacy and forces of both the Sun and Moon\, working upon the Dragon Forces of the Earth\, into clear applicable and practical workings! \n  \nMaybe you can see why I am excited about this one! So with two weeks to each season and covering the various moon phases\, we have more than enough work to chew on. I am hoping to take the work onto the floor every other week\, as a way to practically represent various kinds of working approaches. \n  \nLimited Space Warning! DESCRIPTION:Friday July 28th    8pm \nManannan Vision Quest. \nPresented by Griffin \n*Note: prepayment required! \nPlease Call as these sell out fast!     818 985 2010 \n  \nThe Vision Quest for this month is an encounter with Manannan and the Sea as threshold realm to the otherworld and underworld. This time of year is when we more often get the chance to spend some time by the Sea or even in it! So it’s a good time to shift our mundane awareness to that of a more spiritual nature and forge a deeper familiarity with one of the truly awesome Gods of Old! \n  \nThere are many Gods and Goddesses associated with the Sea or Ocean\, and though they each have their particular lore\, attributes and associations\, they all have a same primal deep feel that if you surrender to it\, will completely wash through you and consume you in a tangible sense of otherness. Nothing shifts you quite like the Sea and even spending a day on a beach next to it\, shifts you\, if you are open to that! \n  \nThe Ced Cards designated for the day\, for them that follow that\, is the Five of Staves\, a cardinal Sun card that depicts Gladiators fighting to the death for the sake of amusement\, decadence and nothing better to do! The Major Arcana in play is the Moon\, who brings change and transition or the illusion of such. The Moon is a trickster who can raise the hormones in the blood and bring about some real change if worked right. Or she can just stir the bloody pot to no other end than a major hangover the morning after! Cardinal Sun being worked by the Moon is just that combination of prime forces that can go any direction…. A feeling one feels when you lay in the arms of the Sea! \n  \nWith all the forces in play these days\, we better get good with playing those forces and shifting tides to a better result we desire and not leave it to the random currents of the under tide to dictate our Fate. Manannan can be just the God we need to befriend in times like this\, where playing the tides when they are in full force is the game we need to get into! \n  \nLast month’s VQ with the Faeries left some of us wasted\, as did the month before with Bessie! These Vision Quests are becoming deeper and deeper workings and they are kicking some butt! This is simply a down & dirty\, get to the heart of the subject\, old world Witchcraft. DESCRIPTION:Midsummer Faerie Vision Quest.\nPresented by Griffin\n*Note: prepayment required!\nPlease Call as these sell out fast! 818 985 2010 \nThe Vision Quest for this month was a tricky one to lock down as there is so much going on in so many courts! But in the end\, the damn Faeries won out! Have they been busy of late or what? I talked to our resident Faerie Mistress\, Elysia\, and she agrees\, they have been most active and she wonders if the court will even close down its doors after Mid Summers this year! \nSo if you are feeling the presence of the other folks in your lives somehow? If things keep going off in strange directions\, getting lost or downright whacky\, then you may be in need of a tête-à-tête with the Faerie. \nElysia also made mention of some particular attention the Faerie were giving to Rosslyn Chapel these days. I find this most interesting as the Grail has been an ongoing theme all year this year and Rose Chapel of the Grail would be something to look into! What this has to do with the Faerie I have no idea\, but what better way to find out than one of our Vision Quests! \nLast month’s VQ with Bessie left us all completely trashed. It was probably one of the most powerful workings we have had in awhile\, it was one of the most powerful Vision Quests we have done to date! Left many experiencing major Ritual Hangover! You know the work goes deep when you wake up with hang over from it! Lol \nThis month with the Faerie can be another of this sort of deep working. If you’ve never encountered the Faerie Court at this time of year before\, it can be truly otherworldly! Ever heard of Mid Summers Night Dream? This will be in that style of approach.
