Throughout history the shaman was someone who\, within their tribe or community\, played many roles: healer\, diviner\, storyteller\, counselor\, priest\, leader. As such\, Shamans have been able to guide and heal their communities through their connection with spirits and the land\, their skill in tracking problematic patterns and energies\, and their ability to travel between the spirit realms. \nAt the core of a shamanic worldview\, we are part of an elaborate web of spirit. The spirits of the rocks\, the trees\, the rivers\, the wildlife\, the sun\, sky and stars – along with the spirits of the land\, our ancestors\, ascended beings and deities – all of these spirits hold space and time for us to cultivate our connection and collaboration with them towards the sacred works and reciprocity of spiritual evolution. \nPresently\, there has been a resurgence of interest for Shamanism\, leading many people onto a path of healing and growth through reclaiming their lives on a physical\, emotional and spiritual level. If you are a seeker who is new to Shamanism\, or simply someone who wishes to know more about specific topics and practices within shamanism\, in this class course you will learn how to cultivate a greater understanding of a Shamanic worldview. But most importantly\, we will explore different ways to connect\, interact and maintain relationships with the many spirits in this great “Web of Life” – a practice called Spirit Work. \n“Shamanism & Spirit Work” is Part 1 of 3 courses in the Class Series “An Introduction to Shamanism.” \n\n“An Introduction to Shamanism” is the collective title for the 18-Week Class Series\, and it is thematically broken up into 3 Parts/Courses. Each “Part” consists of a 6-Week Class Course\, wherein each class will meet every Wednesday night between 7:30pm – 10pm.\nDue to the practical nature of each class workshop\, all classes throughout the whole series are offered for In-Person Attendance Only.\n\nThroughout the series\, each class will delve into a foundational topic within the study of Shamanism. \n\nAs a reminder\, every class within the series can stand alone as an individual workshop\, so it is not a requirement to attend all of the classes consecutively. And\, while the option of “dropping in” at any point in the series is open\, to fully and cohesively benefit from the lessons and practices taught\, it is highly encouraged to attend all of the classes\, either in each class course or in the whole series.\nWe do encourage you to join us for any\, or all\, of the classes in this series. To have a better understanding of the topics each class entails within the full series\, see the itinerary below…\n\nAn Introduction to Shamanism – Full Series Itinerary \nPart 1: “Shamanism & Spirit Work” – April 8th to May 13th. \nLearn how to connect\, interact and cultivate your relationship with spirts of nature and the land\, as we journey through the Upper & Lower Worlds. \nClass Topics: \n4/8:     Class 1 – The Web of Life \nIn this class\, we will discuss a few introductory concepts and perspectives within the shamanic worldview\, and explore how we are connected to the spirits all around us. \n4/15:   Class 2 – Shamanic Journeying \nShamanic Journeying is the cornerstone of every shamanic practice. In this workshop\, you will broaden your understanding of the ethics\, mechanics and practice of sacred flight. \n4/22:   Class 3 – Working with Nature Spirits \nExplore and cultivate your connection to the spirits of nature. In this workshop we will center our spirit work with a primary focus on plant spirits\, and how to utilize their “medicines.” \n4/29:   Class 4 – Spirit Animals & Guides\nSpirit Guides\, Power Animals & Totems\, oh my! Learn about all the different types of spirits that can help to impact our lives with much wisdom and strength. And explore how we may find and connect with these powerfully supportive spirits. \n5/6:     Class 5 – The Medicine Wheel \nThe spirits of the land and of the cosmos can assist you in understanding your very own internal and spiritual compass. In this workshop\, we will learn where to meet them\, and how they can help support and shape our spiritual paths. \n5/13 :  Class 6 – Integrating the Shamanic Path \nIn learning to journey and connect with spirit\, we gain many keys – and sometimes it’s intense. Learn practical ways in which to integrate and carry the many wisdoms\, medicines and stories we accept along the way. \nUPCOMING CONTINUING WORK: \nPart 2: “Shamanism & Personal Healing” – May 20 to June 24. DESCRIPTION:  \n \nThis year’s event is on Saturday April 25th! Gates open 12:00 pm. \nCome join us with the Green Man Pagan Community Tribe for a good old-fashioned Beltane Rite! \nThis celebration is not at the store\, but at a NEW OFFSITE LOCATION: \n***BANDIDO GROUP CAMPGROUND*** \n ***PARKING IS LIMITED: PLEASE CARPOOL*** \n \n \n \n  \nNo charge for kids under 13. However\, a warning: It being Beltane & us being Pagans\, the theme of the festival may at times be a bit suggestive and adult; as long as you’re cool with that\, kids are most welcome & we expect there will be some present. \nThis is a picnic-type event and we encourage folks to bring some picnic eats for themselves to enjoy.  Also\, feel free to bring something for sharing on the Drinks table! Note: if you plan on drinking\, please also plan on having your own food to soak up some of that booze\, even if you do believe it actually helps your coordination for the Maypole! We have tried it sober & buzzed\, but the Maypole Dance just seems to crash into mayhem every year regardless! Also\, please bring camp chairs and/or picnic blankets to sit on. \nCome\, enjoy old world Pagan Pole dancing. Rub up against nature and a few frolicking nature lovers as we turn this year’s Wheel. And there can never be enough frolickers\, right? Come experience the singeing of your unspeakables as you jump the Beltane Fire! Beat the ground\, dance and make merry like a loon with bells on! Mischief\, mayhem\, what a pair\, a bawdy line twixt foul and fair! \nWe plan to start the festivities at around 1:00 pm with a drumming circle\, with our beloved drummer Goat! So please bring a drum or other favored noise maker and join the jam fest. Or wear something sexy so you can entertain the drummers with a dance! \n \n  \n  \nThe Ritual will kick off somewhere in the neighborhood of 3.00pm. I say somewhere in the neighborhood because pagans are notoriously late. And we are a large gathering\, so getting folks in just takes a bit more time! Plus\, festival leaders may be possessed by Faeries at this point\, so ballpark times is really the best we can hope for. \n  \nThe Main Rite is expected to go about an hour\, give or take\, depending on how lost we all get. After Ritual we can continue with feasting & socializing… Or perhaps\, if you like\, we can get into some more drumming? \nPlease bring refreshments you would like to drink. AND out of respect to us\, please abide by the Law: people need to be over 21 to drink alcohol! Plus adults who are over 21\, please show the art of adulting by drinking responsibly so we can all get to have some fun. Also do keep in mind the long and winding road to get back home. \nThis ritual is offsite & tickets pre-purchased are absolutely required.
