Many people find it to be meditative\, relaxing\, and/or healing. Some people may go on an inward journey or experience altered states of consciousness and some may even fall asleep. Most people leave feeling more relaxed than when they arrived. Sound affects our nervous system. It can help to turn off our sympathetic nervous system…the fight or flight that we tend to live in our daily lives…and turn on our parasympathetic nervous systems\, allowing for rest and relaxation.\nDress in comfortable clothing and please bring a mat\, blanket\, pillow and/or anything that allows you to be comfortable lying on the floor.\nPlease arrive at 7:30 for 8:00pm start.  In order to avoid interruption of the meditative nature of this event\, the doors will be locked at 8pm sharp and no-one will be admitted after that time. We will welcome the return of the sun with joy and fellowship as the season of darkness comes to an end. The warmth of the light returns to us as the cold and dark begin to fade away\, replaced in our uplifted hearts with the glowing warmth of the sun. \n  \nWe hope to see you there! \n  \nDonation: To help us present excellent public rituals and support Pagan Pride LA/OC\, Pagan Community Retreat\, the Sempervirens Fund and other charities\, please consider a $15 donation. DESCRIPTION:Odin & Krampus Vision Quest.\nPresented by Griffin & Carrie.\nA Hybrid Event:  Live in person & Zoom!\n\nWinter is coming with the Yuletide celebrations\, and the All-Father Odin\, known to lead the Wild Hunt\, then swings back around as Father Winter\, the Father of Yuletide\, the true and pagan original model for Santa!  Let’s face it: he owns this time of year in all its phases.  As Father of Winds\, he is the frenzy of creation. Father of the Gods\, Father of Winter\, Father of Yuletide\, and even Father of the Afterlife…yes all this and much more.  However\, in the public he is seldom spoken of as the Father of Witchery.  Known in some places as the Wanderer Old Nick\, he is also undeniably a major Witch God!\n\nAs a sidekick to old Santa who has become popular in recent years\, Krampus the black Goat figure was probably originally associated with Thor.  Although the Yule Goat has since become associated with Odin in his Father Yule persona. PARKING IS VERY LIMITED – please consider carpooling or a paid ride. \nTickets are available ONLY on The Green Man Store website\, and must be purchased NO LATER THAN 5PM THE DAY OF THE EVENT. This event is the biggest and most popular of the year and tickets are limited\, so please secure your ticket early!\nTickets are $25. \nThis is an Old World Traditional Witchcraft working for the dead. Be advised it is not an appropriate event for children. This gathering is not a Halloween party; this is a real witchcraft working. We do work for the passing of loved ones but also\, we call upon the Wild Hunt\, calling in the lost souls and aiding them across the Veil. This working gets intense with power and high energy. Be prepared for such participation and bring desserts and drinks to add to the potluck for after the ritual\, as grounding after the ritual will be necessary! \nYou are invited to bring photos and/or items* of loved ones that have passed\, whom you would like to honor or work with\, and light a candle\, on our Hallowed Ancestral Altar. This celebration is not at the store\, but at our usual offsite Beltane location\, which is a most amazing magical location\, hidden in the outer reaches of faeriedom\, which as many know\, is adjacent to Van Nuys. \nNo charge for kids under 13. However\, a warning: It being Beltane & us being Pagans\, the theme of the festival may at times be a bit suggestive and adult; as long as you’re cool with that\, kids are most welcome & we expect there will be some present. \n***PARKING IS\, AS ALWAYS\, AN ISSUE. PLEASE CONSIDER CARPOOL\, UBER\, LYFT\, AND SIMILAR OPTIONS*** \nCome\, enjoy old world Pagan Pole dancing. Rub up against nature and a few frolicking nature lovers as we turn this year’s Wheel. And there can never be enough frolickers\, right? Come experience the singeing of your unspeakables as you jump the Beltane Fire! Beat the ground\, dance and make merry like a loon with bells on! Mischief\, mayhem\, what a pair\, a bawdy line twixt foul and fair! \nWe plan to start the festivities at around 1:30 pm with a drumming circle. So please bring a drum and join the jam fest. Or wear something sexy so you can entertain the drummers with a dance! \n \nThis is a picnic-type event so again this year we encourage folks to bring some picnic eats for themselves to enjoy.  Also\, feel free to bring something for sharing on the Drinks table! Note: if you plan on drinking\, please also plan on having your own food to soak up some of that booze\, even if you do believe it actually helps your coordination for the Maypole! We have tried it sober & buzzed\, but the Maypole Dance just seems to crash into mayhem every year regardless! \n \nThe Ritual will kick off somewhere in the neighborhood of 3.00pm. I say somewhere in the neighborhood as folks do have issue finding parking and so arrive late. And we are a large gathering\, so getting folks in just takes a bit more time! Plus\, festival leaders may be possessed by Faeries at this point\, so ballpark times is really the best we can hope for. \n \nThe Main Rite is expected to go about an hour\, give or take\, depending on how lost we all get. After Ritual we can continue with feasting & socializing…jumping the Bale Fires (Naked? Of course it’s far too dangerous with your clothes on. Kidding!). Or perhaps\, if you like\, we can get into some more drumming? \nAgain: remember people this is Los Angeles and it can get hot. Please bring refreshments you would like to drink. AND out of respect to us\, please abide by the Law: people need to be over 21 to drink alcohol! Arrive 7:30 for start at 8pm sharp \nWhat is a Sound Bath?\nA Sound Bath is an experience in which you can either sit or lie down on the ground\, close your eyes and feel the sound waves of the crystal singing bowls and planetary gongs flowing around and through you…bathing you. Many people find it to be meditative\, relaxing\, and/or healing. Some people may go on an inward journey or experience altered states of consciousness and some may even fall asleep. Most people leave feeling more relaxed than when they arrived. Sound affects our nervous system. If you plan to attend the ritual and you are unable to pay the entry fee\, we welcome you to email info@reclaimingla.org\, and we will add you to a list of those who will receive free entry to the ritual space. No questions will be asked\, and there is no need to provide justification for your request.\n\nINFO\n~If you are called to do so\, please bring an offering for the Bardic circle: a song\, a poem\, a story\, etc.\n~Please bring Waters of the World–a small sampling of waters that you have collected from your home and/or a sacred place.\n~Barring inclement weather\, the ritual will be held fully outdoors. There will be a small fire\, but still plan to bring warm layers.\n~All genders welcome!\n~Children welcome with adult supervision.\n~To support those in recovery\, this ritual is drug and alcohol free.\n\nACCESSIBILITY\nThe ritual space is on mostly even concrete in the open-air backyard of the store. Access to the ritual space is level and wide enough for wheelchair access. Typically\, accessing the ritual space requires going through the store\, which does have strong scents\, and accommodations can be made in advance to come in through alleyway. The ritual space will have some light after dark\, but it is minimal. Chairs are available for those needing to sit for part of or all of the ritual\, and the ritual is structured to allow for participation also while seated.\nAcoustics in the yard can be difficult with aircraft flying overhead; however\, there are no constant loud noises\, and the ritual is conducted with awareness of the ambient noise level to help with hearing. Very rarely\, due to inclement weather (either heavy rain or wildfire smoke)\, the ritual is moved to an indoor space which is up a flight of stairs with no wheelchair access.\nWe have written this accessibility statement to be as inclusive as possible so that people with accessibility concerns do not have to do the labor of asking.
