Did you know we have an acupuncturist at The Green Man?
A new practitioner to The Green Man staff is Sherry Patterson LAc, a licensed acupuncturist. During a recent event I was able to meet her and have a specialized treatment for Stress Relief. It was unique to have three standard treatments listed to choose from: Stress Relief, Crown Chakra Pattern, and Indigo Triangle Pattern, as Sherry has focused her treatment patterns to very specific functions. The Stress Relief treatment focuses on general pain relief and calming the mind. I have had a significant amount of acupuncture treatments, by a wide array of practitioners, and I must say that Sherry has a light and effective touch with the needle placement. Sherry was the first practitioner I visited with that day and her treatment certainly set the stage for calming and centering before the visits to other practitioners.

“Three Things Cannot Be Long Hidden: the Sun, the Moon, and the Truth” – Buddha: Mercury Retrograde in Sagittarius
Are you feeling the tingle? There’s a snap, crackle, and pop in the air as Mercury gets ready to retrograde in a fire sign once again on November 6th; this time in Sagittarius! Some of us may already be chewing on the words unsaid that are just dying to get out. But before we get ready to blurt out what’s swirling around in the shadowed corners of our minds like a tune we just can’t get out of our heads, we may want to sit with it a while longer for the duration of the retrograde to think it through. As one with Mars in Sagittarius who has been far too quick at times to act, and speak as a form of taking action, I’ll pass on wise words that were once given to me: just because it’s true doesn’t mean it needs to be said. (ha! You’d be surprised at how foreign a concept that was for me and how long it took me to realize the truth in that!) However, having said that, some of us may find this energy manifesting slightly differently in that what has needed to come to the surface for the situation’s highest good at last finally does. Either way, what we’re faced with with this combination of energy is a blend of Mercurial communication, perception, and travel with a Sagittarian flavor of reveling in the truth at all costs, explorative search and discovery for what broadens our consciousness be it academic or through travel that takes us out of our normal experience of life, and a keen interest in subjects that have the possibility to shape our ‘take’ on life such as philosophy and various spiritual paths….. anything that might shape our personal moral or ethical concepts about the meaning of our existence. So with that, other possible manifestations of this retrograde might be a new or renewed interest in learning, exploring, or traveling. However it manifests, do keep in mind that all of the usual hiccups of a Mercury retrograde still apply: words may get lost in translation and create barriers for real understanding with others, delays or accidents may occur while traveling, and technical or mechanical conveniences may suddenly go on the fritz. So what I say to you is this:

I was going to do an article this month on my usual “Psychic Stew…etc, but in the height of a Super-Storm hitting the East coast I thought I should wait. Being from New York and having a whole host of family living in the hot spots of the lining of the beaches and surrounded by water, there was nothing to do but to stop everything and brace for what could or could not happen. In the wake of the morning dawn my worst fears were realized. Although my family and all my friends survived the worst thing that had happen to New York since 9/11, New York and New Jersey (where I lived for ten years) has been devastated. The fury of Sandy has change the coastal outline for many communities and will take millions of dollars and years to recover from.
That brings me to our willingness for change. When life is stagnant spiritually and no one is moving or your personal soul has been still to the point that maybe you become more robotic in your everyday duties, change occurs. Before this change is thrust upon us like in Sandy or Katrina for Louisiana, there have been struggles in our lives that we should take control of. Should we stay in a bad marriage. What to do with our finances. What can I do with my teenagers that are rebelling. Why can’t I find love. Should I go back to school at 40 or 50? What to do with my mortgage? Should I change jobs now? These are just some of the questions that have been coming up over and over again in people’s lives just before a natural disaster. In most of my readings, I kept telling people that November is a game changer. Nothing will be the same after November 2012. I did not predicted Sandy because Sandy did not hit the 50 states but trust that everyone will have a “Sandy” show up in their lives. The best way to prevent a Sandy is to make the changes that is in the best interested of you and your family. Get out and create the change required. Sandy does not have to be. When the Mayors of New York and New Jersey said to their people “please evaluate” that was the time to EVACUATE! That was the time to create change.
