The Vision Quest for this month is an encounter with Manannan and the Sea as threshold realm to the otherworld and underworld. This time of year is when we more often get the chance to spend some time by the Sea or even in it! So it’s a good time to shift our mundane awareness to that of a more spiritual nature and forge a deeper familiarity with one of the truly awesome Gods of Old!
There are many Gods and Goddesses associated with the Sea or Ocean, and though they each have their particular lore, attributes and associations, they all have a same primal deep feel that if you surrender to it, will completely wash through you and consume you in a tangible sense of otherness. Nothing shifts you quite like the Sea and even spending a day on a beach next to it, shifts you, if you are open to that!
The Ced Cards designated for the day, for them that follow that, is the Five of Staves, a cardinal Sun card that depicts Gladiators fighting to the death for the sake of amusement, decadence and nothing better to do! The Major Arcana in play is the Moon, who brings change and transition or the illusion of such. The Moon is a trickster who can raise the hormones in the blood and bring about some real change if worked right. Or she can just stir the bloody pot to no other end than a major hangover the morning after! Cardinal Sun being worked by the Moon is just that combination of prime forces that can go any direction…. A feeling one feels when you lay in the arms of the Sea!
With all the forces in play these days, we better get good with playing those forces and shifting tides to a better result we desire and not leave it to the random currents of the under tide to dictate our Fate. Manannan can be just the God we need to befriend in times like this, where playing the tides when they are in full force is the game we need to get into!
Last month’s VQ with the Faeries left some of us wasted, as did the month before with Bessie! These Vision Quests are becoming deeper and deeper workings and they are kicking some butt! I for one will be taking some ginger and even some Dramamine for this one!
In general about these workings; These popular monthly Vision Quests, serve to help awaken the Sight and Gifts in the Seeker, offering a number of opportunities to connect with and receive gnostic insight into your Fate, Path and practices, both within your mundane world as well as your Magic.
*Please Note: As attendance is limited due to space, and these workings have become so popular, we have found ourselves turning people away because the RSVP is filled to max. Only some folks did not show up on the night and people had been turned away when we could have accommodated them. So to be fair to those who want to come, we are going to have to require pre-payment in order for you to reserve your spot!
Also, please bring a salty snack to share for after the Vision Quest.
These can be powerful workings, so we recommend that you please be prepared to stay and engage in the after-Quest discussion while you ground and perhaps receive clarity on any insights you may have received.
