Joe Weiss
Reiki Master
Joe originally found his calling when he needed to heal himself. Adept prior to training, it was in order to focus and ‘attune’ his natural given skill that brought Joe to Reiki Energy work. Joe is a Master level Reiki practitioner.
Reiki is a practice that originated in Japan. It is based on the idea that there is a universal (or source) energy that supports the body’s innate healing abilities. Reiki practitioners access this energy, allowing it to flow to the body and facilitate healing.
Reiki is used to promote overall health and well-being. People who are seeking relief from disease-related symptoms and the side effects of conventional medical treatments also use it. Increasingly, health care professionals in a variety of clinical settings provide it.
In a Reiki session, the client lies down or sits comfortably, fully clothed. The practitioner’s hands are placed lightly on or just above different locations of the client’s body, palms down. Each placement is held for about 2 to 5 minutes, or until the practitioner feels that the flow of energy—experienced as sensations such as heat or tingling in the hands—has slowed or stopped. Sessions thus last varying lengths of time; 30-60 minute sessions lengths are common.
Practitioners with appropriate training may perform Reiki from a distance, that is, on clients who are not physically present in the office or clinic.
A Reiki practitioner receives the ability to channel Reiki energy from a Reiki Master in an “attunement” process. There are three levels of attunement, with additional abilities gained in each attunement.
